We Remember Aaliyah

Born Aaliyah Haughton in Brooklyn on January 16, 1979, the famed singer died at the age of 22 on August 25, 2001 while traveling in the Bahamas. The late star rose to fame in the '90s, making a huge impact over the course of her too-short life thanks to the release of three studio albums -- 1994's Age Ain't Nothing but a Number, 1996's One in a Million, and 2001's Aaliyah -- and a foray into acting that included a turn in Romeo Must Die. Aaliyah's legacy lives on 15 years later, often cited as an inspiration for modern artists.
