Here's how to deal with Valentine's Day as a single;
The first thing you should do on the 14th of February is go on a social media hiatus for the day. Nothing good will come from eyeing a news-feed of photos of kissing couples and flowers that make desks and tables. Going off the social grid for the day will help you avoid seeing things that will make you roll your eyes and feel even more of the single sadness syndrome.
The next thing you can do is plan a fun day for yourself. Call it "your big day out," and do things for yourself that you wouldn't normally do. Take yourself to a concert, even a movie. Then go out to dinner and order dessert. If you can't decide between the brownie sundae or chocolate cup cake, order both. It's Your day.
Remember that celebrating love, which is what Valentine's Day should be about, is not just about celebrating romantic love. So don't ignore the people, the family members, and the friends in your life that you adore. Make sure you send them something sweet or give them a hug. There is so much love around you, even if you are technically single.
Finally, remember that it's just one day 24 hours where you remember that you haven't found the person you're going to be madly in love with for the rest of your life. By the day after, when the Val-Day heat has simmered down, you'll forget all about this day... until next year.
